Introduction *

Be sure and benchmark this page for future reference.

As of January 1, 2001 the State of Alaska Licensed Journeyman Electricians will have to show proof of 16 hours of continuing education before their certificates of fitness can be renewed by the Department of Labor.  The creators of electrician2.com have prepared three 8 hour courses to meet this requirement.  You will have to only complete two of these courses to fulfill the Department of Labor's requirements for 16 hours of continuing education.  Each of these courses has also  been approved by the Department of Community and Economic Development, Occupational Licensing Division, for fulfilling the 8 hours of continuing education requirement for renewal of the electrical administrators license for all but the outside categories.  Completing all these courses requires only one payment of $150.00 which will allow you to take all three courses for up to 32 hours of continuing education approved by the Department of Labor for electricians and the Department of Community and Economic Development for electrical administrators in the UC, IC, and RW categories.   For the UL and OC (outside) categories click here.

The courses are online 7/24 and are free except for the recorded test which must be passed to receive a Certificate Completion. The Department of Labor will not accept faxes or email so a Department approved Certificate will be mailed by US mail to you that must be presented to the Department of Labor for verification of continuing education hours.  For Electrical Administrators a certificate of completion will be sent by email.

In Today's fast paced economy taking a day off to attend seminars for continuing education is not practical for many.  Online Courses can be completed readily 7 days a week, 24 hours a day at your own pace.  Simply Bookmark where you left off and continue at a later time if necessary.

Courses approved by the State of Alaska, Department of Labor for journeyman electricians include the following:

The process of taking these course(s) is as follows:

(1) Review the course material (you can go directly to the courses by clicking on the above links.)

(2) Take the Practice tests.

(3) Complete and pass with a 70 percentile or better the recordable Tests for each course and submit them over the Internet.  This is done as you proceed through each course.  These tests can be taken as many times as necessary to pass.

(4) Submit the Notification of Completion Form.

Certification *

After receiving the Notification of Completion Form, electrician2.com will determine if you completed and passed the respective final and/or recorded tests, and that payment was received. electrician2.com will certify qualifying applicants as having completed 8, 16 or 24 hours of continuing education by mailing by U. S. mail a unique Department of Labor Certificate of Completion to them. This is usually done within 24 hours of receiving the Notification of Completion.  Records of all certificates and test scores will be kept on file for verification.

That is all there is to it.  Each course has recordable tests that are graded by the server and then sends the scores to you.  The server then builds a database of who took the test, when, and the specific answers given for each test.  This database can be accessed by persons with a user name and password to verify attendance.

Thank you for your attention.

Gerald Newton
