Use of Imitation Square D Circuit Breakers
|
|
Imitation Square D Circuit Breakers are being manufactured by several
leading electrical manufacturers for use in Square D load centers. These
circuit breakers are UL classified but are not UL listed. Square D in a May
1995 bulletin states that the Square D warranty on the panel and all circuit
breakers (including any Square D circuit breakers) is void if used with
imitation Square D circuit breakers. Additionally, the National Electrical Code
Section 110-3(b) states that, Listed or labeled equipment shall be used or
installed in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or
labeling. Square D maintains that to use imitation square D circuit breakers in
Square D listed panels is not part of the instructions and is a violation of
NEC 110-3(b).
